I purchased my SHARP EL5500-II in 1985 when my 54 step programmable calculator wasn't enough. I also bought the SHARP CE126P printer and cassette interface and a cassette recorder. Best $200 bucks I ever spent. The speed is "model T" compared to todays computers but I love it. It still works perfectly and I use it regularly. The BASIC programming capabilities allow me to set up solutions to complex problems and print out exactly what I need and only what I need. I do sheet metal developement and piping layout, and fabrication. Doing these things mathematically insures amazing accuracy and the EL5500-II, with its 3534+ bytes, handles the trig and algebra I use easily. Batteries last almost forever. The printer has an AC adapter that can power the computer too. Programs can be stored on cassette. The cassette recorder crapped out years ago but the computer and printer are still functioning perfectly after over 25 years. That kind of quality is unheard of these days.
